I needed help, and what better way to get help then to go to your friends? The issue I was facing involved my air conditioning system. For the past month, it has not been working well, and even though it isn’t cooling my house properly. I mostly ignored it and hoped that it would get better on its own. It didn’t and then it eventually got to the point where it won’t turn on that much anymore. This entire time, I was avoiding calling a professional cooling worker out, because I didn’t want to deal with any HVAC repair fees, but after this, I knew I needed help. I had two close friends, and I wanted to hear their input. I told my one friend, and he told me that I should probably go ahead and get it seen by an A/C specialist. This wasn’t exactly the answer I wanted to hear, and it must have shown on my face because he told me he would highly recommend it. He continued by saying he did a good bit of reading on how HVAC machines work, and one way to keep them going is HVAC tune ups and repair, so if I wasn’t doing that, then I was begging for issues. I went to my other friend and asked the same question. He told me that he never gets his A/C maintained and he rarely has issues, and that it will probably start working again. I decided to take his advice since it didn’t involve me spending any money, hopefully it will start working again soon.

When our son bought his first house, we toured the place with him.

He said it needed some work and he also needed to get a new HVAC system.

I told him as a housewarming gift, we would buy him a new HVAC system. He was really happy about that, but I warned him that he better take care of the regular HVAC system maintenance. He said he definitely would, but I knew how he tended to slack on important things like that, so I was a little bit worried. Well, everything seemed alright over the years and he always said he was taking great care of the HVAC system, and I believed him. Well, the one day we were there, I noticed the air quality was awful and it seemed like the HVAC system was struggling. He did mention that his energy bills spiked a little bit, but he could take care of it. Well, it was only halfway through the dinner we were having together when the heating system quit working altogether. I went with him to check the HVAC system and the air filter was so clogged and dirty, I couldn’t believe it. I wanted to yell at him for neglecting the HVAC system, but I figured he had to learn this lesson for himself why it’s important to take good care of the HVAC. We had an HVAC professional come out and the guy said the HVAC was so heavily neglected like it had never been maintained and the air filters seemed to be changed rarely. The HVAC was only 4 years old, and it was completely dead and had to be replaced. I told my son he would have to cover this on his own because he’s the one who destroyed it.

I always thought my brother was too skilled in everything he chose to do.

He always told me I could do anything he could, but I always doubted that.

He was the captain of the basketball team and he was popular with everybody! He also had good grades consistently and I didn’t know how he managed to do it. On the other hand, I was always struggling and I swore that I had some type of learning disability or something. So after we graduated, went to college, and got into our respective careers, next thing I knew he had installed his own HVAC system! I asked him if he was an HVAC professional on the side or what, but he said he was still just a regular banker. He told me that he learned that he was able to install his own HVAC from some buddies of his and then he learned how to do the installation. He said he would be happy to teach me how to do it also. I laughed and said I could never install my own HVAC system, he was the brilliant one, not me. Well, he sat down with me and we watched some installation videos. I had to admit, it didn’t seem to be that challenging. So he helped me figure out the best DIY ductless mini split to go for and I got one with 4 zones for a pretty sweet deal online. I had the new HVAC delivered to my home and then my brother and I were working on the installation. He took care of the heavy work like drilling the holes through the walls. That was too nerve wracking for me, but I was so happy when we completed the installation!

It was just last month when we got a call from the school and they expressed concern about our son being absent from school way too often.

They said he was at risk of having to repeat the grade but there were options for makeup work and he could get back on track.

Well, we had a talk with our son and learned that he was forging absence notes and skipping school! This was extremely disappointing and we had to punish him for this. We said he was not going to miss another day, and he was going to do this makeup work that the principal was speaking of so that he could catch back up. I mean, it was his Junior year in high school and we wanted him to do well and have a bright future. He tried to say that it was the temperature control settings at the school he was so uncomfortable with. He said they cranked the heating system so much that it made him sweat while he was in class. He also said other students felt the same way. I ended up going in with my wife to speak with the principal and we immediately were able to see what our son was talking about with the temperature control settings. It was way too overheated in the building and everybody looked miserable! When we asked the principal why it was so hot, he was saying something about how it had to be that warm for the students with disabilities. I don’t even know what he was saying, but it didn’t make sense. I said it was nonsense and they better adjust the temperature control settings to a reasonable level before we withdraw our child from the school. Our son was happy to report the temperature control settings were comfy after that.

When I was at work last week, I was curious and looked at the bulletin board to see what was going on.

• There were various announcements and different events that were being planned.

Then there was this advertisement about a company that buys old HVAC systems. I had actually been talking with my wife about how old our HVAC system was and I told her I wished we could just sell it and get a new one. Well, here was this advertisement saying they would pay top dollar for used HVAC equipment. When I called the number, I spoke with a nice guy who said it was all legit. He said they actually took old HVAC systems and restored them and in many cases they would salvage the parts that were actually rather valuable. Well, I wasn’t trying to sell HVAC parts myself because I don’t know what’s valuable and what’s not. But I did have the guy come look at my HVAC to tell me how much he would pay for it. He seemed happy when looking at the HVAC and gave me an amount that I was surprised about. I couldn’t believe he was willing to pay me so much money, and he would remove the HVAC for me as well. I went for the deal! Before I knew it, I was having a new ductless mini split installed via the professionals and I was so happy we were finally getting a modern HVAC system that was highly energy efficient. Seriously, the SEER rating for the cooling system is 24 and that’s phenomenal!

When I was talking with my buddies about what type of HVAC I should go for, everybody had some great ideas.

My one friend was saying a geothermal HVAC would be the best.

I asked if that wasn’t ridiculously expensive. He smiled and said it was expensive, but it definitely was worth the investment. He said it was an HVAC system that would last me for half a century with minimal maintenance. He said the reason for it being so costly was because of the digging that was necessary for the installation. The pipes have to be under the ground where the temperatures remain stable, and from those pipes the heating energy is pulled into the house for heating and pushed back out for cooling. There are even more advanced geothermal systems that can also generate electricity to help power the household or building. That I had to admit sounded fascinating and it seems like the way of the future, but I couldn’t afford to spend so much money. Most of my other friends were saying I should go for a nice dual fuel system. I ended up getting a quote for the installation of a dual fuel system, and I thought it was kind of expensive. I was telling my friends I wished I could just install my own HVAC system. One of my friends laughed and said I could do that. When I was going to say I was just joking, he was serious and said there are DIY ductless mini splits on the market and he showed me installation videos and how simple it was. Now I’m leaning towards installing a ductless mini split!

I didn’t get it but he smiled and said it was obviously the fact that my laundry room was becoming overheated.

I briefly remember thinking it was odd that the thermostat in my rental house was located in the laundry room. But it was something that I forgot about because I don’t typically adjust the temperature control settings that often. Anyway, I started noticing that whenever I was doing laundry, the rest of the house would become kind of cold. I was wondering if I had some issue with the ductwork or something, but I didn’t think about the obvious answer to my problem. Eventually, I called a friend over and asked if he could help me solve the issue. I told him how sometimes it was too cold even when I would crank the temperature control settings on the thermostat. And then it would be too hot and I would have to lower the temperature control settings. This was driving me crazy. Then he asked me where the thermostat was and I told him it was in the laundry room. He then asked if I was using the dryer, and I mentioned how I had to use it a lot lately because I was helping my mother dry her clothes because her dryer wasn’t working. Then my buddy looked at me for a moment to see if anything was clicking. I didn’t get it but he smiled and said it was obviously the fact that my laundry room was becoming overheated. He said the exhaust was probably not connected all the way, but even if it were, I would still have a slightly overheated laundry room. Well, he was right, it was hot in there. He said if I wanted to fix this issue, I would have to move the thermostat to a smarter location.

When I was having trouble with my HVAC system, I decided to learn about how to repair the thing.

I looked up different online HVAC maintenance videos and found a lot of useful information. I was able to learn how to diagnose different issues with my heating and cooling system. It wasn’t long when I was sure I knew what the issues were with my HVAC system, but a friend of mine advised me not to even try it. He said that if I chose to work on my own HVAC system, I surely would void the warranty. This wasn’t something that I was aware of, but I honestly didn’t care. I told my friend that the warranty would only be good for another few years anyway and I thought I would be fine. Anyway, if something went wrong with my HVAC system, I had enough money in my savings to get something brand new. So I proceeded to work on my HVAC system. I turned the power off to the HVAC first and checked inside. I carefully vacuumed out all the dust and debris inside and had a good look at everything. I found some parts that seemed to be worn, so I went for replacement parts. It didn’t take me all that long to replace those parts because there were tutorials on how to replace them easily. After everything was done, my HVAC fired up like a champ and my friend was surprised that I was able to get it working so well. He said I might regret working on my own HVAC down the road, but I have actually learned a lot about HVAC maintenance.

When my wife and I went to our favorite restaurant the other day, it was kind of something we decided on a whim.

I honestly wasn’t even that hungry, but I figured when I smelled the food, my stomach would start growling.

Well, we got there and the temperature control settings were just as splendid as ever. It also seemed like the air quality had improved since the last time we were there. I couldn’t help it, so I had to ask the waiter about the air quality. He smiled and said that they had just installed a new UV air purification system. He said they had an old air purification system that worked well for a long time, but it died recently and had to be replaced. Well, that was comforting news to hear because I understand that the UV light kills harmful pathogens and therefore makes the place safer to be in. I guessed this might have been the reason why the place was more crowded than usual, people wanted to go to a place that was comfortable like that with great air quality. Well, it certainly helps that their food is delicious. I still wasn’t all that hungry though so I just got water and ordered a salad to munch on. My wife wasn’t too hungry either, so she just got a milkshake and a grilled cheese sandwich. We honestly usually spend more money when we go out, but not today. At least I made sure to leave the waiter a good tip and he told us to come back soon!

When I was at a friends’ house, I was kind of uncomfortable so I asked if I could adjust the temperature control settings.

I turned up the cooling system a little bit and I was surprised when I heard the rush of cooling coming from the HVAC vents in no time! The house cooled down so fast, I was in disbelief and wondered what was going on. I asked my buddy if he had some kind of turbo charged HVAC system or something. He laughed and he said he had something like that. He said it was a rapid heating and cooling HVAC system. He said there was special ductwork that’s narrow and flexible for easy maintenance. He also said how this HVAC system is able to heat or cool his place down within minutes, and that is something amazing I have to say. I have never heard of such an HVAC system and I imagine it must be a costly investment. He said it was sort of pricey, but it was worth it especially with how low his energy bills are these days. He says he saves so much money because he just turns off the HVAC when he leaves and sets it to turn on before he gets back home from work. He says no matter what, the temperature control settings are perfect when he gets back. He tells me how the temperature changes so fast if he needs to adjust the settings. I guess that’s because of how powerful the HVAC system is.
